In last week’s post I talked about having friends and how they should be an inspiration in your life. Last year, I created one of my most beautiful friendships. In our conversations we get pretty deep and one thing that came up is having people to support the ideas that you may have. She expressed that poetry was something that she wanted to get back into and me being the friend I am was all for it. I wanted to support her by agreeing to write one along with her. Check them out below.
To whom it may concern,
I am a black women who can not take anymore
I am a black sister who can not take anymore
I am a black daughter who can not take anymore
I am a black granddaughter who can not take anymore
I do not have it in me to just stand by and watch as my people are systematically oppressed
I am drowning in the sorrow of my ancestors blood, sweat, and tears
I have failed them
Although I am here fighting the same battle they fought
I allowed myself to believe that would be the end and was living oh so freely that here.
Here we are again.
This time I’m not stopping. WE will keep going just as the systematic oppression does
Sincerely,
A “free” black women.

We Are Human
You tell us to “stop resisting”
We automatically comply but some don’t even get the chance to before their lives are taken
You treat us like we don’t even have a purpose in this world
Like we are nothing
But we are human
We don’t deserve
to plead for air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds
to be shot 8 times in the comfort of our own homes
to be killed while jogging in our own neighborhood
and for you to jokingly say our caskets should be closed
No, I say let the world see what you have done to us humans
That we are
But when you have guns pointed at us you proudly disregard the human in us
So what does that make you?
Inhumane
