We often hear as a child, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It’s common for that child to answer with a typical job: a doctor, a teacher, a police officer, a lawyer, etc. I was one of those children. However, all that quickly changed as I got older and started to understand things. I had to stop saying things because they sounded good and understand the reasoning behind my decisions. They were all the wrong reasons. I had to figure out what it was I wanted to do and that’s still a work in progress. I realized that I was hiding behind the answer to that question and not really paying attention to what it was I actually wanted to do. This caused me to start my journey of not living in my purpose. It continued throughout high school to my semesters in college. I noticed that I was just existing; letting my days just pass by and rolling with the punches. I wasn’t setting goals. I wasn’t keeping track of time. I wasn’t looking at my life in the long run. I was just living. I didn’t have a plan. Sometimes we can become content with life as long as there are no challenges we have to overcome. Instead of waiting until those challenges come, take the initiative in your life to work on ways to avoid them from happening. I’ve just recently started working on bettering myself. I needed to take control of how I wanted to live my life. I had to work on finding my purpose in life. That’s one thing that I want to encourage my younger/older audience to do. Living with a purpose is better than just existing. You get so much more out of life. Looking back and seeing your progress in life can and will be rewarding. Don’t just let your days turn to nights without thinking about your goals. Find out what you are passionate about. Work with a purpose. Live with a purpose!
